Christopher Gäng (born May 10, 1988 in Mannheim ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He last played in the Regionalliga Südwest at SV Waldhof Mannheim . He was adopted by the Waldhöfern before the last home game of the 2018/2019 season.

career

Christopher Gäng started in the E-youth of SSV Vogelstang. Then he moved to the team of SV Waldhof Mannheim , for which he played 43 games in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.

In the summer of 2007, Gäng was the only player from a non-professional club to be appointed to the DFB U-19 national team for the European Championship in Austria. Due to a broken left hand one day before the start of the tournament, he was unable to participate. Ralf Fährmann was nominated for him .

For the 2007/08 season Gäng moved to Berlin to Hertha BSC . He played 40 games for Hertha’s second team and got an average of only 0.57 goals per game. When regular goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobný and substitute goalkeeper Christian Fiedler were injured, Gäng made his only Bundesliga appearance of his career in the away game in Bremen on November 1, 2008 and received five goals (the game ended 1: 5).

For the 2010/11 season Gäng moved to RB Leipzig in the Regionalliga Nord on a free transfer . He played eight games for RB Leipzig. His first game was a 5-1 defeat at home against Holstein Kiel . Since his contract would only have been extended after ten games, he had to leave the club after only one season. Gäng went back to Berlin, this time to the upper division Türkiyemspor Berlin . After Gäng refused to continue running for Türkiyemspor due to a lack of salary payments, he was fired from the club. In January 2012 he moved to the first division club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig . He came to 13 second round matches and qualified with the club for the new Regionalliga Nordost .

For the 2013/14 season , Gäng moved to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the Regionalliga Südwest. In June 2016, Gäng returned to his birthplace and signed a three-year contract with SV Waldhof Mannheim . For the 2019/2020 season, his contract with the Waldhöfern was not extended.
