Christos Orkas (born August 25, 1965 in Herne ) is a German football coach and former football player of Greek descent.
Career
The midfielder Orkas began his career in the youth of SV Sodingen . From 1985 he was part of the squad of the second division club SC Fortuna Köln . Orkas reached third place with the Cologne team in the 1985/86 season and then failed in the relegation to Borussia Dortmund . A year later, Orkas took on German citizenship after Fortuna signed Anthony Baffoe, a third foreigner. In the summer of 1988 Orkas moved to the Greek first division club Iraklis Thessaloniki , but returned to Germany after six months and joined the upper division Prussia Münster .
With Münster, Orkas became champions of the Oberliga Westfalen before the team prevailed in the following round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga together with MSV Duisburg . Then Orkas moved to the second division Hannover 96 , where he did not come regularly to the train. After just one year, Orkas went to the upper division Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 1990 , before returning to Münster a year later. With the Prussians Orkas was again league champions in 1992 and 1993, but his team failed both times in the promotion round.
In the summer of 1993, Orkas switched to SC Verl , with whom he qualified for the newly created Regionalliga West / Südwest in the following season . In 1995 he went to the league promoted TuS Ahlen and made the march through to the regional league with the team. Orkas then played for a year each for Alemannia Aachen and LR Ahlen before he had to end his career in 1998 after a cruciate ligament rupture . Orkas has been working as a scout for VfL Bochum since then .
