Chrome Division is a Norwegian heavy metal band. Stylistically, the music is strongly reminiscent of Motörhead and Monster Magnet . The best- known member is guitarist Stian Tomt Thoresen , the singer of Dimmu Borgir (there under the pseudonym Shagrath ).
history
As early as 1999, Stian Tomt Thoresen had the idea of founding a band that would make music by Dimmu Borgir beyond Dark Metal . While working on the Dimmu Borgir album Spiritual Black Dimensions , he played two songs with Stian Arnesen from The Kovenant and Dimmu Borgir that were more in the stoner rock direction. Due to lack of time, the project was put on hold.
In 2004 Thoresen wanted to set up a real band. Stian Arnesen had no time and disengaged himself. Thoresen looked for and found more musicians for his band. The band got a record deal with Nuclear Blast . On July 21, 2006, the debut album Doomsday Rock´n´Roll was released . Two years later followed the album Booze, Broads and Beelzebub ( English : Schnaps, women and the devil ), which received generally good reviews.
In 2009 the band separated from singer Eddie Guz "due to a lack of engagement for the band". He will be replaced by Athera , singer of the band Susperia . In 2012 bassist Björn "Burn" Luna and guitarist Ricky Black left the band and were replaced by bassist Ogee and guitarist "Damage" Karlsen.
The fourth album Infernal Rock Eternal was released in 2014. Three years later Athera left the band and was replaced by his predecessor Eddie Guz. In 2018 the album One Last Ride was released , which will also be the band's last album.
