Chrysogonus Reisch

Chrysogonus Reisch (born May 11, 1870 in Sabschütz near Leobschütz as Anton Reisch ; † December 12, 1923 in Leobschütz ) was a German Franciscan and historian.

Anton Reisch joined the Saxon Franciscan Province ( Saxonia ) of the Franciscan Order in 1887 , receiving the order name Chrysogonus . From 1887 he studied philosophy in Düsseldorf and theology in Paderborn . He was ordained a priest on August 16, 1895 .

From 1897 at the latest and probably until 1900 he lived in the convent of St. Annaberg and was then transferred to Breslau , where he gave lectures on canon law in the Franciscan seminary . In 1902 the convents in Silesia were removed from Saxonia and now formed the independent Silesian Franciscan Province ( Silesia ). In 1917 and 1918 Fr. Chrysogonus was Guardian of the Franciscan Convent of St. Aegidius in Breslau . In 1918 he became Guardian of the convent in Neustadt OS and in 1921 Guardian in Leobschütz , where he lived until his death. From 1900 Br. Chrysogonus dealt with the history of the Franciscan order in Silesia .
