Chrysostomos II. ( Greek Χρυσόστομος Β΄ , civil Ηρόδοτος Δημητρίου (Iródotos Dimitríou) , born April 10, 1941 in Tala, Paphos district ) is a Cypriot clergyman and archbishop of Nea Justinianopolis and all of Cyprus.

Chrysostomos II lost his father at the age of ten and entered the monastery of Agios Neophytos of Paphos two years later. On November 3, 1963, he was ordained a deacon by the Bishop of Trimithounda, Georgios . After graduating from the University of Athens , he was elected Hegumen of the Monastery of St. Neophytos on October 19, 1972 and ordained a priest on November 12, 1972. He was elected Bishop of Paphos on February 25, 1978 and was ordained episcopal a day later. Chrysostomos II. Is the successor to Chrysostomos I and, as Archbishop of Cyprus, has been head of the Cypriot Orthodox Church since October 2006 .

In order to avert the impending bankruptcy during the Cypriot financial crisis , Chrysostomus II presented a proposal to support the country's economy during a personal meeting with President Anastasiadis in March 2013: the entire assets of the church could be pledged, which - as the archbishop emphasized characteristically - have immense dimensions, and in return she will receive bonds. Leaving the presidential palace, Chrysostomus II declared that he had suggested ways out of the crisis and advocated leaving the monetary union .

Archbishop Chrysostomos II repeatedly called for the resignation of the finance minister Michalis Sarris and the bank boss Panicos Demetriades. He criticized both of them mainly because they had done nothing to prevent the restructuring of the banking system demanded by Brussels. So there were great losses among the large savers, including the church. The finance minister resigned on April 3, 2013 immediately following an agreement with the EU , European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund donor troika .

Chrysostomos II underlined his political and economic importance by carrying a scepter at military receptions and discussions with the president .
