Chuz Alfred
Charles "Chuz" Alfred (* 1932 in Lancaster (Ohio) ; † October 31, 2018 there ) was an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , alto saxophone ).
Chuz Alfred, who was a real estate agent in his main profession, also played as a jazz musician. In 1955 he had the opportunity with his trio (Ola Hanson, trombone and Chuck Lee, piano, drums) to record several titles for Savoy Records , others (such as the standard " I Can't Get Started ") in a quintet line-up with Vinnie Burke and Kenny Clarke ( Jazz Youngblood ). Further recordings were made in 1980 with trumpeter Tom Batttenberg ( Free Rein ). Most recently, Chuz Alfred produced the compilation Jazz Favorites for the Young at Heart for the Camco label in 1998 . In the field of jazz he was involved in five recording sessions between 1955 and 1998.
