The Cimarron River is a short tributary of the Gunnison River in the US state of Colorado .
The estuary is in the Curecanti National Recreation Area , where the river is crossed by a trestle bridge on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad listed on the National Register of Historic Places .
