Summit cross of the Großer Cirspitze

The Große Cirspitze (Italian: Gran Cir ) is the highest point in the mountain group at 2592 meters. The summit of the Großer Cirspitze was probably already climbed by Ladin hunters. The first tourist ascent took place on August 7, 1887 by Johann Santner and Gottfried Merzbacher from the west side ( I (UIAA scale) ). The Große Cirspitze can now be reached via the normal route without climbing experience and without great difficulty. The path leads first over a gravel field, then along a wall and up to the summit cross. In some places this ascent is secured with a wire rope.

The summit of the Kleine Cirspitze (Italian: Piccola Cir ) has a height of 2520 meters. It is located west of the Großer Cirspitze near the mountain station of the Dantercepies cable car. The Kleine Cirspitze can be reached via a well-developed, moderately difficult via ferrata (B / C). The path leads from the south side to the summit and then partially down again on the east side through a gravel field.

Surroundings

Via the Cirjoch one arrives at the Chedul valley , also Chedul valley (pronunciation: Kedul), which is located north of the mountain group. From the Passo Gardena you can reach the Cir peaks via various paths, below the peaks the Jimmyhütte is located at an altitude of 2220 meters .
