CityVision was a private regional television station from CityVision GmbH & Co. KG from Mönchengladbach , which reported on the city and the surrounding region.

history

CityVision's beginnings were limited to the publication of a monthly DVD with reports on events in the city of Mönchengladbach. For example, the fire in the central swimming pool on July 23, 2001. These compiled reports ran on screen terminals at various venues in the city, for example at the airport .

Initial talks with the State Agency for Media North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM) were held in 2006. After the establishment of the GmbH in 2007 and the construction of the broadcasting center, the CityVision broadcaster went on air on January 19, 2009. With a symbolic push on the red button, Mayor Norbert Bude gave the go-ahead for the station's first current news program. In the television studio in the district of Odenkirchen - Güdderath , managing director Thomas Manglitz, editor-in-chief Stephan Lenzen and presenter Marion Cürlis jointly moderated the premiere.

CityVision stopped broadcasting in 2019.

program

CityVision Aktuell was a news program that was broadcast Monday through Friday on CityVision. The content was news for the region of the Mönchengladbach broadcasting area and the surrounding area. City television video reporters asked citizens of Mönchengladbach for their opinions on current issues. Furthermore, contributions to events were shown. Depending on the weather, there was Sport Kompakt on Mondays, Backstage or LetsPlay on Tuesdays, Fohlen TV on Wednesdays, the cinema tip on Thursdays and checked out on Fridays.

CityVision - The week was broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays and showed the highlights from the CityVision Aktuell issues of the past week .

CityVision - The year was broadcast in several episodes at the end of December and beginning of January and showed the news highlights from the previous year.

There was a cooperation with the Rheinische Post , which held 60 percent of the shares in CityVision. Selected articles could also be seen on the website of the newspaper publisher. Posts were also distributed on YouTube and Facebook . The CityVision Aktuell broadcasts were available for a period of four weeks via the IPTV platform Telekom Entertain via the TV archive .

Audience quotas

More than 223,000 households with an analog cable network in Mönchengladbach, in the district of Viersen , in Erkelenz , Grevenbroich , Korschenbroich and Jüchen received local television. According to a study carried out by the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in 2010, over 22,000 viewers saw CityVision "Aktuell" (excluding the Krefeld region ) every day . The study was carried out again for the 1000th broadcast of the “Aktuell” magazine on February 27, 2013, according to which an average of 52,000 people tuned into the local broadcaster's program. CityVision was known to 87 percent of the population .

The station could be received in the Unitymedia cable networks of the cities of Mönchengladbach, Erkelenz with Wegberg, Krefeld, Grevenbroich with Jüchen, Rommerskirchen and the entire Viersen district.

Cable television (analog)

The cable network operator Unitymedia initially broadcast the station analog on the S04 channel, but stopped broadcasting analog TV in June 2017. Since then, no more analog TV channels could be received in NRW.

DVB-C

At the end of June or beginning of July 2019, an information board was initially sent on the digital broadcasting slot, which informed that the station could not be received at the moment for technical reasons. Since mid-July 2019, there has been a notice there that the station has stopped broadcasting at its own request.

The latest edition of the news program Aktuell was available as a stream on the station's website.
