geography

Pelton Pond.

The state park extends over the heavily hilly area east of the Hudson River , where numerous mountain ranges run in a north-south direction. Streams that drain the area include Trout Creek , Clove Creek, and Canopus Creek . The forests are part of the Northeastern Coastal Forests ecoregion .

In the park there are picnic areas with pavilions, a playground, leisure activities, a nature trail, hiking and biking trails, opportunities to hunt turkeys and fishing spots, as well as a campsite and a boat ramp with the option of renting boats.
