Clarence Hobart

Clarence Hobart (born June 27, 1870 in Waltham , Massachusetts , † August 2, 1930 in Asheville , North Carolina ) was an American tennis player.

Career

Hobart took part in tennis tournaments from 1888. In 1891 he reached the final of the US Championships (now US Open ), but lost to last year's winner Oliver Campbell in five sets. In doubles he was able to win the championships in 1890, 1893 and 1894, in mixed 1892 and 1893, and in 1905 at the side of his wife Augusta Schultz . He also took part in the Wimbledon Championships , where he achieved his greatest success in 1898 by reaching the semifinals.

He last played at the American Championships in 1919.
