Mabel Cahill
Mabel Esmonde Cahill (born April 2, 1863 in Ballyragget , † January 1, 1905 ) was an Irish tennis player .
successes
She was the first foreigner who could win the women's singles at the US tennis championships (today: US Open ). In 1891 she defeated last year's winner Ellen Roosevelt in the final and won doubles with Emma Leavitt-Morgan . A year later she achieved complete triumph by winning all three competitions. In singles she got the upper hand against Elisabeth Moore , in doubles she won alongside Adeline McKinlay and in mixed she won the title with Clarence Hobart .
