Classical Mushroom is the second music album released in 2000 by the Israeli psytrance band Infected Mushroom . It is one of the most famous and successful albums by the band.

Emergence

While the debut album The Gathering met with little interest, Classical Mushroom marked the commercial breakthrough of Infected Mushroom. In retrospect, the band sees the album with its influences from classical music as a commercial decision, although the mixture of classical and electronic music was still unusual at the time. The musicians added classical scales to the music to make it appear more melodic. The recordings took place in the band's own recording studio, Infected Studios , all instruments and effects were recorded by the two band members Erez Eisen and Amid Duvdevani, who also produced the album . The album initially met with criticism, but then became one of Infected Mushroom's best-selling albums and received a gold record .

Reviews

According to Dean Carlson of Allmusic , the album begins with soft acoustic guitars and washboard noises, which are complemented by accelerating kicks , acid trance elements and various synthetic noises. In addition, elements such as the female vocals typical of house or melodies played with a piano are used, which were rather unusual for the genre around 2000. Since these unusual elements are all used in the first track, Bust a Move , the rest of the album is no longer fully effective in comparison.
