Claude-Emmanuel de Pastoret
Claude-Emmanuel Joseph Pierre, marquis de Pastoret (born December 24, 1755 in Marseille , † September 28, 1840 in Paris ) was a French politician and writer.
biography
De Pastoret was a member of the Legislative Assembly from Paris during the French Revolution and Minister of the Interior for a short time in 1791. During the reign of terror he emigrated and returned to France in 1795. After the revolution he became a deputy of the Var department , in 1809 a member of the Sénat conservateur , in 1814 a member and vice-president of the Chambre des pairs , in 1826 Ministre d'État and in 1829 the last Chancellor of the Restoration .
Claude-Emmanuel de Pastoret was a member of the Freemasons' Association and a member of the Parisian Masonic Lodge Neuf Sœurs .
De Pastoret became a member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres in 1784 , the Académie française in 1820 and the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in 1832 . He taught at the Collège de France and at the Sorbonne , emerged as a translator of Tibullus' works and published an eleven-volume Histoire de la Législation .
