Claude Burdin

Claude Burdin (born March 19, 1788 in Lépin-le-Lac , Savoy ; † November 12, 1873 in Clermont-Ferrand ) was a French engineer and professor at the École nationale supérieure des mines de Saint-Étienne in Saint-Étienne . From 1842 he was a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences .

Burdin studied at the École polytechnique (PhD 1807) and at the École nationale supérieure des mines de Paris . He developed the concept and coined the term turbine .
