Claude Dauphin
Claude Dauphin (born August 19, 1903 in Corbeil-Essonnes , † November 16, 1978 in Paris ) was a French actor .
Life
The son of the poet Franc-Nohain started out as a decorator before making his stage debut in a play by Tristan Bernard. Mostly in the roles of charming and elegant men, he represents the French in Hollywood cinemas. His son Jean-Claude Dauphin (from his marriage to Maria Mauban ) is also an actor.
He made his debut as Joannis in La Fortune (1931). He became famous for the lead role of Jean Durand in the film Revolt of the Rebels (1939), written by Henri-Georges Clouzot and directed by Richard Pottier . In Raymond Bernard's Jean Anouilh film adaptation of Castle of Love , Dauphin plays the three main roles (Léandre, Hubert & Georges), in Henri Decoins Palpitations (1940) Pierre plays alongside Danielle Darrieux . Further leading roles in Marc Allégret ( The Beautiful Adventure , 1942) and alongside Lilli Palmer in the English film English without Tears (1943). In 1945 he played Cyrano de Bergerac . 1952 alongside Simone Signoret in gold helmet as Félix Leca.
In 1950 he made his US debut in Robert Siodmaks Deported , in 1952 he was the partner of Doris Days in April in Paris , in 1952 he played with Claire Bloom in Innocents in Paris . With Bing Crosby in Once, the sun will shine again . Roles in numerous American TV series. Joseph L. Mankiewicz hired him for The Silent American , Val Guest for The Full Treatment and finally he was filming in his homeland Brennt Paris? . Maurice Dalbret is one of his later roles in Stanley Donen's Two on the Same Path (1967). In addition to his son Jean-Claude Dauphin (* 1948), who is also acting , he appears in Bernard Toublanc-Michel 's Tanjas Beliebter (1968).
