Claude Torracinta

Claude Torracinta (born November 11, 1934 in Le Havre ) is a French-speaking Swiss journalist who worked for Télévision Suisse Romande from 1969 to 2003 .

At the age of eleven he moved to Geneva with his mother , where he graduated from the Collège Calvin . He studied at the University of Geneva and obtained a degree in business administration in 1958 and a degree in political science in 1959. From 1960 to 1969 he worked for the daily newspaper Tribune de Genève , first as head of the economic section (1960–1963), then as head of general news (1963–1966) and finally as a correspondent in Paris (1966–1969).

From 1969 he was employed by the Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR, Television of French-speaking Switzerland ), where from 1969 to 1978 he directed the newly founded information program Temps présent . In 1972 he was also head of magazine broadcasts and from 1989 to the end of 1992 news director. He then worked as a journalist for TSR until 2003. He has produced numerous television programs, including “Destins”, “En direct avec…”, “Table ouverte”, “Genève ou le temps des passions” and “Les banques suisses en question”.

From 1994 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hospice général , the social service of the Canton of Geneva . In 2002 he produced the documentary “Mémoires de la frontière” (about the crossing of the Swiss border during the Second World War) on behalf of the Canton of Geneva. From 1998 to 2001 he was President of Licra Switzerland.

He is married to Claire Torracinta-Pache , who was a socialist member of the Grand Conseil of the Canton of Geneva from 1985 to 1997 . He has two children, his daughter Anne Emery-Torracinta has been a member of the Geneva Grand Conseil since 2005 and chairs the SP parliamentary group.
