Claude Tresmontant

Claude Tresmontant (born August 5, 1925 in Paris , † April 16, 1997 in Paris) was a French philosopher.

Life

Claude Tresmontant taught Medieval Philosophy and Philosophy of Science at the Sorbonne . He was a member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques , which awarded him the Grand Prize for his complete works in 1987. In 1973 Tresmontant received the Maximilien Kolbe Prize.

Tresmontant examined as exegete the history of Christianity since his Hebrew origins. He recognized the influences of the disciplines of morality , anthropology and metaphysics , which in historical times came from China , India and Greece , like in a phylum . As a supporter of modern Catholic theology , Tresmontant took the view that the data of current scientific knowledge - especially in cosmology and biology - point to an existence of God .

Claude Tresmontant was the administrator of the theological works of Pierre Teilhard de Chardins .
