Claudia Nicoleta Ștef , née Iovan , (born February 25, 1978 in Craiova ) is a Romanian walker .

In 1996 Claudia Iovan was third in the 5000-meter walk at the Junior World Championships. In 1997 she became European Junior Champion at the same distance. In the 10 km walk she finished 12th in 44:10 minutes at the European Championships in Budapest in 1998. In 1999 Claudia Iovan won over 10 km at the Universiade and finished eleventh in the 20 km walk at the World Championships in Seville .

On January 30, 1999 Claudia Iovan set an indoor world record in 3000 meters in Bucharest with 11: 40.33 minutes. This performance was undercut in 2003 by Irish rider Gillian O'Sullivan with 11: 35.34 minutes, but her performance was not recognized as an official world record.

Claudia Iovan tested positive for doping on May 20, 2000 and was subsequently banned for two years.

At the European Championships in Munich in 2002 , Claudia Iovan was fifth over 20 km in 1:29:57 hours. She took the same place as Claudia Stef, having married her coach Sebastian Stef, at the 2003 World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis. She set her personal best of 1:29:09 hours. Two years later at the World Championships in Helsinki she was eighth in 1:30:07 hours. At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg she finished fifth in 1: 29.27 hours, and sixth at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka . At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , she finished 38th in 1:33:56 hours. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, she was 57th.

Claudia Ștef is 1.60 m tall and weighs 48 kg.
