Claudia Herstatt

Claudia Ludowika Herstatt (born November 21, 1948 in Wiesbaden ; † April 16, 2012 in Hamburg ) was a German art critic .

Life

Herstatt was the daughter of the Cologne banker Iwan David Herstatt , studied in Cologne and Bayreuth and worked as a correspondent for the art magazine art since 1980, initially in Zurich and Brussels. In Belgium in 1988 she wrote an art travel guide about the country. She worked as a columnist from Hamburg for Tagesspiegel , Handelsblatt (1989), Die Welt , the art forum and world art . In the time it had between 2000 and 2006 a weekly art market column. In 1991/92 she was press spokeswoman for documenta IX . She also published a large number of art-oriented articles, most recently in April 2011 about the quality boost at Art Cologne .
