Mayoral election 2009

For the local elections in 2009 she was nominated as a candidate for mayor by the Wülfrather group, who was standing for the first time, and surprisingly won the extremely tight election with 26.96% of the vote. Incumbent Barbara Lorenz-Allendorff came to 24.42%, Thomas Görtz (CDU) to 23.83% and Manfred Hoffmann (SPD) to 17.18%. Due to a new NRW municipal electoral law, no runoff was necessary for the first time , which is why Panke was elected to the office with the lowest approval rate in Germany. In an interview after the election, Panke said that she saw it as a challenge to gain more support during her term in office.

Claudia Panke is the first person in the office of Mayor of Wülfrath to be elected for a term of six years.

Mayoral election 2014

Claudia Panke had decided to shorten her regular term of office (actually end of August 2015) in order to allow it to be merged with the council election on May 25, 2014 and thus save the municipality costs. Your candidacy was supported by the Wülfrather CDU and FDP as well as the Wülfrather Group (WG). Panke won the election with 69.49% of the vote in the first ballot; their competitors Axel C. Welp (SPD) and Jörn Leunert (Die Grünen) received 22.07% and 8.44% of the 9507 votes, respectively. The turnout was 54.72%.

Claudia Panke's second term of office as Mayor of Wülfrath ends in September 2020.
