Claudia von Funcke

Claudia von Funcke (* 1966 in Kiel ) is a German sculptor and photographer .

life and work

Claudia von Funcke was an editor at the art newspaper NIKE Munich and studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Eduardo Paolozzi and James Reineking . In 1996/97 she received a daad scholarship ( Architectural Association ) in London . Von Funcke's installations and objects are created under the influence of various areas of perception theory, brain research, molecular biology, geophysics and contemporary architecture. They mostly aim to destabilize familiar perceptions, use simple building materials and everyday found objects, but occasionally also use high-tech materials. Works by her are among others in the Deutsches Museum , Munich / Flugwerft Oberschleißheim .

Claudia von Funcke has been heading the FUNCK [] RAUM project space in Berlin since 2011

Funcke lives and works in Berlin .
