Claudio Sprecher (born April 6, 1980 in Chur , Switzerland ) is a former Liechtenstein ski racer . He was a member of the national team of the Liechtenstein Ski Association (LSV) and took part in two world championships and the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Career

Speaker competed in his first FIS races at the age of 15 . He gained his first international experience at the European Youth Olympics in Sundsvall SWE in 1996, where he finished 4th in the giant slalom. Junior World Championships in 1997 and 1998 , where his best result was 44th place in the 1998 Super-G. After his apprenticeship as a draftsman from 1996 to 2000, he was able to devote himself fully to skiing again. During the following years he achieved great successes in international FIS races. From January 2001, Sprecher was also in action in the European Cup .

In 2003, Sprecher took part in the Super G at the World Championships in St. Moritz and was 31st. Two years later, he was 32nd in the giant slalom and 43rd in the Super G at the World Championships in Bormio . In the 2005/06 season, Sprecher took part in a total of eight races in the World Cup. His best result was 47th place in the downhill on the Streif in Kitzbühel . After meeting the basic limits, he was selected for the Winter Olympics in Turin at the beginning of February 2006 . There he took part in four races, in the downhill he reached rank 35 and in the combination rank 32. In the combined downhill he finished in 13th place and was even classified ahead of the following winner Ted Ligety. In the Super-G and in the giant slalom, he was eliminated. In October 2006, while preparing for the next season, Sprecher announced his retirement from ski racing. The ongoing disputes with the Liechtenstein Ski Association prompted him to do so.
