geography
The Clausensee is about 10 km east of the federal road 270 ( Kaiserslautern - Pirmasens ) between Waldfischbach-Burgalben and Leimen at an altitude of 280 m . It is fed by the 50 km long Schwarzbach , which is also called Burgalb in this section and sends its water to the Rhine via Blies , Saar and Moselle . The north bank belongs to the district of Heltersberg , the south bank to the eponymous municipality of Clausen .
District road 32 leads along the north side of the lake, which leads from Waldfischbach-Burgalben up to Leimen.
The surrounding mountains of the Palatinate Forest tower over the lake by up to 200 m: the Große Hundsberg in the north is 477 m high, the Hesselsberg in the southwest 465 m , the Schmale Kopf in the southeast 503 m .

tourism
The lake is used for tourism . According to the community of Waldfischbach-Burgalben , it is “still an insider tip in the region”. Directly above the lake there is a campsite with a stretch of beach that is unguarded. Every year on the last weekend in July there is a sea festival. Sights around the lake are covered under Schwarzbachtal .
