criticism

Henryk Goldberg found in the daily newspaper Neues Deutschland that Jürgen Hentsch gave the Clavigo cold and uninvolved when it came to love, almost at the mercy of his courtly friend Carlos' whisperings. The inner state of mind is occasionally made visible through economical gestures, a twitch of the corners of the mouth, here one could guess what Hentsch is actually able to achieve as an actor. Mimosa Künzel of the Neue Zeit wrote: “Whatever moved, excited, or caused Gerd Keil to stage a work from Goethe's Sturm und Drang period with Clavigo , it certainly spurred him on to a respectable performance (...). What I particularly appreciate about this television director who likes to interpret classics is the correctness of the presentation and interpretation, the care in the choice of the play equipment and the care he gives to these works.
