Jürgen Hentsch (born March 17, 1936 in Görlitz ; † December 21, 2011 in Rüdersdorf ) was a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, he attended the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . This was followed by theater engagements in Berlin, where he appeared in Rolf Hochhuth's Der Stellvertreter or Shakespeare's Richard III. starred in a production by Manfred Wekwerth . This was followed by engagements in Vienna and Munich.

As a film actor, Hentsch made his debut in 1965 in the DEFA film Karla at the side of Jutta Hoffmann , Rolf Hoppe and Fred Delmare . In 1991 his portrayal of the physicist Werner Heisenberg in the film End of Innocence was received very positively by the critics. In 1996 he was nominated for the German Film Prize for his portrayal of the psychiatrist Ernst Schultze in Romuald Karmakar's Der Totmacher .

In 2002 Jürgen Hentsch was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize and the Bavarian Television Prize for his role as Heinrich Mann in Die Manns - A Century -old Novel. In 2004 he received the German Television Award for his role as Herbert Wehner in Im Schatten der Macht .

After a long illness, he died at the age of 75 in Rüdersdorf. His grave is in the Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof in Berlin.
