Cleistocactus longiserpens is a species of plant in the genus Cleistocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet longiserpens means 'long creeping'.

Cleistocactus longiserpens grows creeping, climbing or hanging with sparsely branched, green shoots and reaches a length of 80 centimeters and more with diameters of 1.2 to 2 centimeters. There are about 8 ribs that are up to 3 millimeters wide and 2 millimeters high. The rounded ribs have more or less clear transverse furrows above the areoles . The needle-like, light honey-colored central spine , rarely up to three, turns gray later. It is 1 to 2.5 centimeters long and only slightly stronger than the radial spines. The sprawling, needle-like 12 to 19 radial spines are yellowish to brown and turn gray with age.

The tubular, crooked, side-appearing flowers are 4 to 5 centimeters long and have a diameter of up to 4 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with scales and long hair. The spherical to slightly elongated fruits are probably yellowish green.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Cleistocactus longiserpens is distributed in the Peruvian region of Piura in the province of Huancabamba at altitudes of 1350 to 1950 meters. It was first described in 2002 by Beat Ernst Leuenberger .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
