Life

Between 1885 and 1888 he completed evening classes with Johannes Schilling at the Dresden Art Academy . In the meantime he worked in the master studios of Schilling and later with Robert Diez on their commissions. In doing so, he developed a special ability to perfectly depict the detailed, nature-related plastic ornaments. This peculiarity opened him up to participation in the Dresden art exhibitions. So he worked out the special sculptural ornamentation for other sculptors in their works. Around 1889 he worked freelance in Dresden and had his studio at Schnorrstrasse 15, later from 1901 to 1935 at Schweizer Strasse 19. From 1889 to 1939 he lived in Dresden at Franklinstrasse 18 (then 16). All buildings were destroyed in 1945 by the air raids on Dresden . He also created several grave monuments and plastic facade decorations in the Johann-Georgen-Allee in Dresden.
