Clemens Höpfner

Clemens Höpfner (* 1979 in Engen ) is a German lawyer and university professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

Life

Höpfner studied law at the University of Konstanz from 1999 to 2004 . After taking his first state examination in law there in 2004, he worked as a research assistant for Bernd Rüthers at his chair in Constance. From 2006 to 2008 Höpfner did his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe . In 2007 he completed his doctorate during his legal clerkship under the supervision of Rüthers. After his second state examination in 2008, Höpfner worked as a temporary academic advisor at the Institute for Labor and Business Law at the University of Cologne .

In 2014, Höpfner completed his habilitation in Cologne under the supervision of Martin Henssler and received the venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, labor law, commercial and corporate law, European private law and legal theory. In the 2011/12 winter semester and the following winter semester, he had already held teaching positions at the Universities of Konstanz and Düsseldorf . In the winter semester 2014/15 and the following summer semester, he took over the chair for civil law, law of the economic system and law of international economic relations at the University of Konstanz, succeeding Karl-Heinz Fezer . After rejecting calls from EBS Law School and the University of Bochum , Höpfner held the Konstanz chair from the 2015/16 winter semester to the 2017 summer semester. Since the winter semester 2017/18 he has been the managing director of the Institute for Labor, Social and Commercial Law, Dept. II at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and holder of the chair for civil law, labor law, commercial law and legal theory.

Clemens Höpfner is married and has three children.
