Clemens Verenkotte

Clemens Verenkotte (* 3. August 1960 in Dinslaken ) is a German historian , journalist and radio - correspondent of ARD .

Life

After two years of military service and a two-year traineeship in the newspaper, Verenkotte studied modern and contemporary history, political science and medieval history at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . During his studies he became a member of the Catholic student associations KDSt.V. Arminia Freiburg im Breisgau and KDSt.V. Novesia Bonn in the CV . In 1987 he completed his studies with a Magister Artium .

In 1987 Verenkotte became a freelancer in the politics department of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (BR) . In 1990 he became an editor there. From 1991 to 1994 he was radio correspondent for Bayerischer Rundfunk in Berlin , and from 1995 he was studio manager of BR in Bonn and Berlin. From 1995 to 2001, Verenkotte was the correspondent for Bayerischer Rundfunk in Washington, DC. From 2001 to 2006, he was responsible for foreign policy at the BR. From 2006 to 2011 he was ARD radio correspondent in Tel Aviv , Israel , and from 2011 to 2017 foreign policy editor at BR in Munich. Since September 2017 he has been studio manager and radio correspondent at ARD Studio Vienna / Southeast Europe.

For Deutschlandfunk, he is the co-author of 25 specialist articles on the daily program " Background " .

In 2001 Verenkotte received the First Radio Prize from the Rias Berlin Commission for his report The American Millennium, which was broadcast at the turn of 1999/2000 .
