Clyde Kull (born March  2, 1959 in Võru ) is an Estonian diplomat. From 2004 to 2008 he was the ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Germany .

Early years

Clyde Kull graduated from high school in Tallinn in 1977 . He then studied international relations at the Moscow State University until 1985 . In 1987 he obtained his doctorate there. From 1985 to 1991 Clyde Kull worked as a consultant for the Nordic countries in the department for international relations of the Soviet "Council Association of All Trade Unions".

diplomacy

When Estonia regained national independence, Kull entered his country's diplomatic service. In 1990/91 he was an advisor to the Estonian delegation in negotiations with the Soviet Union in the field of military and security policy. 1991/92 Kull worked in the Political Department of the Estonian Foreign Ministry in Tallinn. During the same period he was appointed Estonian representative to the CSCE in Vienna .

From 1992 to 1996 Clyde Kull was the Estonian ambassador to Brussels (responsible for Belgium , the Netherlands and Luxembourg and Estonian ambassador to NATO ). From 1992 to 1997 he was also the Estonian Ambassador to the European Union . In 1998/99 Kull was Deputy State Secretary ( Estonian asekantsler ) in the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for foreign trade policy and consular issues.

From 2000 to 2004, Kull was the Estonian Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva . From 2002 to 2004 he was also chairman of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. From 2004 to 2008, Kull was the Estonian ambassador to Germany . He is currently the head of the Political Department at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tallinn.

Private life

Clyde Kull is married to Olga Kull and has two children.
