Claudio "Clyde" Lombardi (born March 28, 1922 in Bronx , New York City , † 1978 ibid) was an American jazz bassist.

Live and act

Clyde Lombardi had a classical education, but began a career as a jazz musician when he was 20. He played from 1942 to 1945 with Red Norvo , Joe Marsala and in 1945 in the Boyd Raeburn Orchestra, as well as in Benny Goodman's orchestra at the time (1945 to 1946) and his smaller combo , which the latter conducted during his brief attempt at bebop in 1948/49 . Lombardi was also involved in recordings of Charlie Ventura (1946), Lennie Tristano , Beryl Booker , Wardell Gray , Stan Getz / Al Haig (1948), Slim Gaillard , Lenny Hambro , Stan Hasselgård , Hal McKusick , Flip Phillips , Specs Powell Involved , Aaron Sachs , Zoot Sims , Chuck Wayne / Barbara Carroll , Eddie Bert / JR Monterose , Tal Farlow (1953) and George Wallington . Lombardi, who did not make any recordings under his own name, started working for CBS in 1959 as a studio musician, even if he participated in jazz sessions from time to time. In 1975 he recorded with the tenor saxophonist Tony Graye .
