Cocapata is a town in the Cochabamba department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Cocapata is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Cocapata in the province of Ayopaya . The village is located on a vast plateau at an altitude of 3600 m on a tributary to the Río Cotacajes , which flows here in a northerly direction to the Río Beni .

Cocapata lies between the Cordillera Mazo Cruz and the north-western sections of the Cordillera Oriental . The climate is a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.
The annual average temperature of the region is just under 1 ° C (see Cocapata climate diagram) and fluctuates only slightly over the course of the year between −2.5 ° C in June / July and 3 ° C in November. The annual rainfall is around 850 mm and is humid all year round , but fluctuates between rainfall of only 10 mm in June / July and maximum values of over 150 mm in January.
