Cockrell Hill is a city in Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in the west of the county, in the central northeast of Texas, is in the north about 100 km from Oklahoma and has a total area of 1.5 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The city was named after Brentwood Allen Cockrell and his son or after Wesley Cockrell and his cousin Alexander Cockrell, all pioneers in this area. The then name Cockrell Place as a stop was known among travelers and the carriage line ran from Dallas to Fort Belknap and El Paso .

According to the 2000 census , 4,443 people in 1,150 households and 959 families lived there. The population density was 2,957.7 people per km². The racial the population was composed of 44.63% White, 1.67% African American, 1.04% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 49.65% other ethnic groups. About 2.77% were mixed race and 84.15% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,150 households, 54.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.4% of these were married couples living together. 15.8% were single mothers and 16.6% were non-families. 12.7% of all households were single households and 5.4% had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.86 and the average family size was 4.18.
36.6% of the population were under 18 years old, 13.8% 18 to 24, 30.7% 25 to 44, 13.1% 45 to 64, and 5.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 25 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 104.5 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 104.9 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 32,644 , and the median income for a family is $ 34,722. Males had a median income of $ 25,632 versus $ 18,854 for females.
