Cocoon was a German post-hardcore - band whose musicians from Bonn , Cologne and Koblenz come. It broke up on May 27, 2013.

history

The band was founded in 2006 by Jan Vergin ( vocals ), Dejan "Dean" Stankovic ( guitar ), René von Schönebeck ( drums ) and Leander "Le" Greitemann ( bass , background vocals ). All musicians have played in other bands before.

In the first year after it was founded, there were around 30 regional appearances and a self-financed tour of Germany. Their first EP Unleash Your Tomorrow was also released in 2006 as an in-house production. This EP sold out shortly after its release. The band played as the opening act for Maintain , Angelreich and Philae.

René von Schönebeck left Cocoon after the first tour, and Markus Eichelhardt joined the band for him.

In 2008 the band started another tour through the whole of Germany and played a concert in Austria . The band signed a contract with the British label Rising Records (including Bleed from Within , Sworn Amongst , Trigger the Bloodshed ) and began recording their debut album in late 2008. This was released in 2009 and is available for sale worldwide. The EP Unleash Your Tomorrow was also re-released in 2009. The label T-Recs Music supported the band with the recordings.

Since 2009 Jan Ternes has played as a further guitarist with Cocoon.

In October 2010 the band played together with We Are Wolf , Six Reasons to Kill and We Butter the Bread with Butter in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler .

In April 2011 the band announced that bassist Leander Greitemann and guitarist Jan Ternes Cocoon had left the band for personal reasons. Christian Tiefenau, a long-time friend of the band, has taken the place of the outgoing Greitemann. The position on guitar has been filled with Jonas Saal.

In December 2011 and January 2012 the group recorded four new pieces in the Pitchback Studios in Cologne. The accompanying music video appeared on the Internet in April 2012 and was released on CD in May 2012. On May 27, 2013, the group announced its breakup. Just a few weeks earlier it was announced that singer Jan Vergin is the new front singer at His Statue Falls .

Music genre

Their style was based on a catchy-poppy and metallic post-hardcore , as it has been played by many groups since the beginning or mid-2000s with some commercial success. Influences could also be clearly identified from the areas of metalcore and alternative rock .

The band described their style as "alternative emocore".
