Colart (company)

Colart International Holdings Ltd., Colart or Colart Group for short , is a British company that specializes in the manufacture and sale of artist materials. Subsidiaries with brands such as B. Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Lefranc & Bourgeois are located worldwide. The head office is in London .

Colart was founded in 1992 as a subsidiary of AB Wilh. Becker and is therefore a subsidiary of the Lindén Group , a family company based in Höganäs in southern Sweden .

Colart has ten manufacturing sites in the UK , France and China , as well as additional sales offices.

Since May 2017 Colart has been the majority shareholder of the Elephant Art publishing house, including publisher of the art magazine Elephant .

  • Beckers "A" - original stamp with artist oil paints and artist materials from AB Wilh. Becker, mainly for the Nordic countries.
  • Dekorima - original brand from AB Wilh. Becker since 1970. Artist materials, mainly for the Nordic countries.
  • Lefranc & Bourgeois - artist paints and materials. The oldest part of the company was founded in Paris in 1720 . Was founded in 1982 by AB Wilh. Becker acquired.
  • Charbonnel - Specializes in materials for artistic gravure , lithography and gilding . Was founded in Paris in 1862. Acquired by Lefranc & Bourgeois in 1988.
  • Snazaroo - face painting . Founded in 1989.
  • Winsor & Newton - artist paints and materials. Founded in London in 1832. 1990 from AB Wilh. Becker acquired.
  • Reeves - colors and materials. Founded in London in 1766. 1991 from AB Wilh. Becker acquired.
  • Liquitex - Specialized in artist acrylic paints . The company was founded in 1933 as the Permanent Pigments Company in Cincinnati . Acquired by ColArt in 2000.
  • Conté à Paris - Specialized in crayons and colored pencils . Founded in Paris in 1795. Acquired by ColArt in 2004.
  • Letraset -Specialized in marking pens . Also known for rub-on letters since the 1960s. Founded in London in 1959. Acquired by ColArt in 2012.
  • Elephant Art - publisher of art books and an art magazine. Founded in 2009.
