The Cole Peninsula is about 25 km long and 13 km wide peninsula , located between the Cabinet Inlet and the Mill Inlet on the Foyn coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula is. From its central massif, Mount Hayes , a series of ice-covered mountain ridges branch off in a star shape.

In 1940 she was discovered and photographed by members of the East Base of the United States Antarctic Service . In 1947 it was mapped by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) and with the help of aerial photographs that were made in the same year during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). Expedition leader Finn Ronne named the peninsula after the politician William Sterling Cole (1904–1987), who had successfully sought financial support for the research trip in the US Congress .
