history

Student around 1903

The original school building was located on Calle Canoa and was used at the beginning of the education of 16 students of German origin. At the turn of the century, the number of students had increased almost tenfold. In 1901 the school development association was founded. Two years later, they moved into the new school building in Calzada de la Piedad , and in 1918 a new building was added to allow for more students. After the number of students continued to grow, the construction of the school building in Tacubaya began in 1938 , and was inaugurated in 1940. During the Second World War , the school was monitored by the state. There were also numerous expansions in the following years, including the establishment of the branch in the south. It was recognized as a bicultural school in 1982 through a cultural agreement between the governments of Mexico and the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1989 the two existing schools were rebuilt and in 2001 the third branch was added.
