Colin Campbell (athlete)

Colin Campbell ( Colin William Ashburner Campbell; born June 20, 1946 in London ) is a former British sprinter , middle-distance runner and bobsleigh athlete .

In 1968 he finished fourth over 400 m at the European Indoor Games in Madrid . At the Olympic Games in Mexico City, he reached the quarter-finals over 400 m and was fifth in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

In 1969 he was again fourth over 400 m at the European Indoor Games in Belgrade . At the European Athletics Championships in Athens he was eliminated over 400 m in the semi-finals and was sixth with the British team in the 4 x 400 meter relay .

Over 800 m he finished sixth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Vienna in 1970 and eighth for England at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eliminated in the preliminary stages and at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in the semi-finals.

After completing his athletics career , he was part of the British four-man bobsleigh at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck , which finished in 13th place.
