Colin Eggleston (born September 23, 1941 in Melbourne , Victoria , † August 10, 2002 in Geneva , Switzerland ) was an Australian film director , screenwriter , film editor and film producer who directed several feature films in the 1970s and 1980s, including Long Weekend , Dakota Harris - flight through the time hole or Cassandra - omen of death .

Life

Colin Eggleston was born in Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria in 1941. Eggleston began his career in the 1960s, among other things as an editor on the television series Doctor Who . At the beginning of the 1970s he also began working as a screenwriter for various Australian television series such as Homicide and Division 4 . In the mid-1970s, he expanded his involvement to include the role of producer, including in the crime series Matlock Police . Mainly, however, Eggleston worked as a director for film and television. In 1964 he made his debut as a television director on the series Homicide , which was followed by other directorial engagements in the 1970s and 1980s for series such as The Long Arm , Matlock Police , Division 4 and Bellamy .

In 1977 Eggleston made his film debut in the erotic film comedy Fantasm Comes Again, initially under the pseudonym Eric Ram, he later directed films under his real name, including the horror film Long Weekend with John Hargreaves in the leading role, and the horror thriller Innocent Prey , the fantasy adventure film Dakota Harris - Flight through the time hole or the horror films Cassandra - Omen of Death and Outback Vampires .

After 1987, Colin Eggleston finally retired from the film business. He died on August 10, 2002 at the age of 60 in Switzerland.
