Colin Murphy (born April 11, 1980 in Fort McMurray , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Hamburg Freezers in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Colin Murphy began his career as a hockey player in the team at Michigan Technological University , for which he was active from 2001 to 2005 in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , the attacker made his professional ice hockey debut when he was on the ice in a total of 17 games for the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League . Then the Canadian received a contract with their successor team, the Toronto Marlies , for which he played the following three seasons. After a season with their league rivals Portland Pirates , Murphy was signed by the Augsburg Panthers from the DEL in the summer of 2009 .

For the 2010/11 season , the Canadian moved to the DEL competitor Hamburg Freezers . In late 2011, Murphy suffered a serious shoulder injury that forced him to take a break for several months. After recovery, Murphy could no longer build on his previous performance and did not receive a new contract in Hamburg after the end of the 2012/13 season .
