Collins Omae Gichana (born April 9, 1989 in Nandi County ) is a Kenyan sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Collins Omae Gichana gained his first international experience at the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow , where he was eliminated over 200 meters in the first round and also did not reach the final with the Kenyan 4 x 100 meter relay. He then reached the semi-finals over 200 meters at the African Championships in Marrakech . In 2015 he took part in the 4 x 200 meter relay in the World Relays in the Bahamas , but was disqualified there in the preliminary stages. Two years later he won the B final at the World Relays with the 4-by-400-meter relay and finished seventh with the 4-by-200-meter relay. Over 400 meters, he qualified for the World Championships in London and was eliminated there with 46.10 s in the first round . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he reached the semi-finals over 400 meters. In addition, he was disqualified with the Kenyan relay in the finals after the relay first came in third.

In 2014 Gichana became Kenyan champion in the 200-meter run and in 2017 over 400 meters.
