Colmeal is a locality and former municipality in Portugal .
history
In 1560 the place was raised to an independent municipality.
Culture and sights
The parish church ( Igreja Paroquial do Colmeal , also Igreja de São Sebastião ) was originally built as a chapel in the 15th century. When the town was raised to a parish in 1560, the chapel was expanded to become a church. Presumably in the 19th century it received its bell tower, with bells cast in 1836 and 1858 from Cantanhede . It is a listed building.

Colmeal was a parish ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Góis . On June 30, 2011 the community had 158 inhabitants on an area of 33 km².

In the course of the municipal reorganization of Portugal after the municipal elections on September 29, 2013, the municipality of Colmeal was merged with Cadafaz to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Cadafaz e Colmeal . The official seat of the new municipality was Cadafaz, but the previous municipal administration in Colmeal remained as a citizens' office.
