Colossus in Six Flags Magic Mountain ( Valencia , California , USA ) was a double wooden roller coaster manufactured by International Amusement Devices that opened on May 29, 1978. The main supplier of the railway was Bernards Brothers .
The track's racing layout made it possible for two trains to compete in a race in which one of the two trains reaches the station first.
The rails have been changed several times since the opening. The largest rail exchange took place in 1979. In 1991 some valleys between the hills on the parking lot side were raised and a block brake was installed. You can still see the old rails under the block brake.
On August 16, 2014, the roller coaster closed and preparations began for its demolition to make way for a new hybrid wooden roller coaster, Twisted Colossus . On September 9th a fire broke out, which destroyed a small part of the roller coaster before it was demolished. The fire could be brought under control quickly, so that no personal injury and only minor damage to property was the result.
Trains
Colossus owned six Morgan trains with six cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.22 m tall to be allowed to ride.
