Tatsu ( Japanese for: "Dragon") in Six Flags Magic Mountain ( Valencia , California , USA ) is a steel roller coaster of the Flying Coaster model from the manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard , which opened on May 13, 2006.

The layout does not correspond to the Superman layout, as in the three sister parks Over Georgia , Great Adventure and Great America , but was specially designed for Magic Mountain. The Pretzel-loop with a height of 38 m 17 m higher than the Pretzel loops on the other flying roller coaster of the manufacturer.

General

After the passengers have been buckled up, the carriages are rotated 90 ° so that the people lying on their stomachs can look towards the ground. The passengers are in this position for the entire journey. The 1098 m long route leads over four areas of the park and has a height difference of 80 meters. The maximum speed of the train is 100 km / h. With its 38 m high Pretzel loop, it broke the world record for the highest Pretzel loop.

The trip on Tatsu takes 3.5 minutes, of which a little over a minute in the flying position. The capacity of the train is 1,600 people per hour. It is possible to load two trains with passengers at the same time. Just like Kingda Ka in Six Flags Great Adventure, Tatsu also installed switches at the beginning and end of the station. The floor of the station has a special design, which means that movable floors like those used in older Flying Coasters from B&M are no longer required. The floor under each seat is recessed, which makes it possible to turn the trolleys by 90 ° with sufficient space for the passengers' feet. However, the floor between the individual cars is at the same height as the rest of the station, making it particularly easy for passengers to take a seat.

  • The Show Who Wants To Be A Superhero? used Tatsu Subscript text in the third episode of the second season .
  • The MTV series Next showed footage of two candidates driving Tatsu.
  • Mega Builders of the Discovery Channel showed a documentary about the construction of Tatsu.
