Conasprella jaspidea ( original combination Conus jaspideus ) is the species name a snail from the family of cone snails (genus Conasprella ), which in the western Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea is common and from Vielborstern malnourished.

features

Conasprella jaspidea bears a medium-sized snail shell that can reach a length of up to 3 cm in adult snails. The whorls of the high, pointed, slightly concave thread are characterized by clearly angled shoulders. The cone-shaped body has a convex outline and is sculptured with spirally running cords. Its surface can be smooth or grainy.

The housing surface is white, orange or brown with darker brownish or purple spots.

distribution and habitat

Conasprella jaspidea is common in the Gulf of Mexico , the Caribbean Sea, and the western Atlantic Ocean from Florida to the coast of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil .

The snail lives in the intertidal zone and at depths of around 100 m.

nutrition

The spoils of Conasprella jaspidea consists of Vielborstern that the Radulazähnen razor and use of the poison from the venom gland be killed. The snail eats, among other things, large fire bristle worms that are longer than the snail. A meal typically lasts around 20 minutes.
