Concha Velasco or Conchita Velasco (actually Concepción Velasco Varona ; born November 29, 1939 in Valladolid ) is a Spanish actress , dancer , singer and television presenter .

Life

Before Velasco studied ballet dance and Spanish at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid , she studied in Morocco . She started as a dancer at the A Coruña Opera and danced flamenco in Manolo Caracol's dance group . She also played in a revue with Celia Gámez. She made her film debut in 1954 in a small role in the film El bandido generoso . She was often on the cast list in Spanish comedies of the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1966 film Hoy como ayer , Velasco played a yeh-yeh girl and in one scene of the film also had to sing a song composed by Augusto Algueró and written by Antonio Guijarro called La chica ye-ye , which in Spain became one Hit advanced and established the young woman as a singer.

In 1974 she shot the drama Tormento with her compatriot, director Pedro Olea , whom she described as one of her favorite filmmakers, and in 1975 Pim, pam, pum… ifeugo! The portrayal of Luisa in the 1977 film Esposa y amante is one of her preferred roles. One of her greatest acting successes was the role of Saint Teresa de Ávila in the eight-part Spanish television series Teresa de Jesús from 1984, which is one of her favorite roles as well as that of Madame Maria Rosa in the television film Cinco Minutos nada menos . In 1990 Velasco was nominated for a Goya for her performance in the film Esquilache Pastora Patermo by Josefina Molina as "best supporting actress" . In 1997 she was nominated again , this time for "best leading actress" in the drama Más allá del jardín . 1999 came true in the film París Tombuctú Velasco's dream to work with the important Spanish film director Luis García Berlanga . Another favorite role of the actress is that of Carmen Orozco Argenta in the dramatic 36-part television series Herederos , which ran on Spanish television from 2007 to 2009 . In the 2010 film adaptation of the Golden Girls in Spanish with the title Las chicas de oro , Velasco took on the role of Dorothy (Doroti). In 2018, Valesco announced its retirement from the acting business after 64 years of career.

Concha Velasco was nominated eleven times in the course of her career for the Fotogramas de Plata and won it seven times. The actress was nominated five times for the Actor Awards, three times she was able to take home the award. The artist has received the Iris Awards, an award from the Academy of Sciences and Arts, twice, once she was awarded the Waves Award. In 2013 she received the Goya Prize for her life's work. Velasco has one star on the Walk of Fame in Madrid.

The actress had a longstanding relationship with the Spanish director and screenwriter José Luis Sáenz de Heredia . From 1976 to 2005 Velasco was married to the actor and theater director Paco Marsó , who died in 2010 , with whom she also has two children.
