Goya 1997
The Spanish film award Goya was awarded in 1997 in 25 categories. At the award ceremony, which took place on January 25, 1997 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos Juan Carlos I in Madrid and was moderated by the two actors Juanjo Puigcorbé and Carmen Maura , two films prevailed in seven categories each. Alejandro Amenábar's feature film debut, the horror thriller Tesis - The Snuff Film , won eight nominations, including in the most important category, Best Film . Pilar Miró received the Goya for Best Director for his twelve-time nominated comedy El perro del hortelano . Also nominated for best film was Imanol Uribes Bwana , who couldn't convert any of its three nominations into awards.
Santiago Ramos ( Como un relámpago ) and Emma Suárez ( El perro del hortelano ) were recognized as Best Actor , Luis Cuenca ( La buena vida ) and Mary Carrillo ( Más allá del jardín ) won in the supporting actor categories . The film Lies & Secrets by the Briton Mike Leigh , which was awarded the Golden Palm in Cannes, received the Goya for Best European Film , and the love drama Sol de otoño by Argentinian Eduardo Mignogna for Best Foreign Film in Spanish . The director and supporting actor Miguel Picazo , who received an award for his film La Tia Tula at the 1964 San Sebastián International Film Festival , received the Honorary Goya.
