Miguel Bardem (* 1964 in Madrid ) is a Spanish film director and screenwriter .

Life

Miguel Bardem comes from a well-known Spanish family of actors. His father was the director Juan Antonio Bardem , his aunt is the actress Pilar Bardem . Their children Javier , Mónica and Carlos also work in the film business.

Like his father, Miguel Bardem chose the profession of director, he is also active as a screenwriter and actor. He often uses members of his family in his films. His aunt Pilar Bardem and his cousin Javier Bardem, among others, played the leading roles in his directorial debut La madre . His debut work was awarded the Goya for Best Fictional Short Film. After this short film, he made his first feature film together with Alfonso Albacete in 1996. In Más que amor, frenesí , Nancho Novo, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, Ingrid Rubio, among others , play. Carlos Bardem , the youngest cousin of Miguel Bardem, made his acting debut under his direction. The style of the film is reminiscent of the work of Pedro Almodovar , according to a review in the New York Times . Más que amor, frenesí brought Miguel Bardem a nomination for Goya for Best Newcomer Director . For his next directorial work La mujer más fea del mundo , Bardem was able to win Elia Galera, Roberto Álvare and Héctor Alterio as actors. The comedy shows with a lot of black humor how the murder cases of several beauty queens are solved shortly before a miss election . The film won the Puchon International Film Festival award.

In 2003, Bardem took on the documentary Ninas de Hojalata produced by Canal Plus . The film follows the life of underage girls in Nepal , thousands of whom are sent to India every year and are forced into prostitution there.

With Incautos , Miguel Bardem brought another comedy to the screen in 2004. Ernesto Alterio, Victoria Abril and Federico Luppi starred for him in front of the camera. For the 50th anniversary of the comic heroes Clever & Smart , Bardem was commissioned to make an actual film. The film came out in 2008 under the title “Mortadelo y Filemón. Misión: Salvar la Tierra “(Clever & Smart - Mission: Save the World) in the cinemas. The roles in the agent film took on Alex O'Dogherty, Secun de la Rosa and Edu Soto.
