Manolo García (makeup artist)

Manolo García (* in Xàtiva , Province of Valencia ) is a Spanish makeup artist .

Life

García began his career on the film staff in 1995 with the Spanish thriller production Gimlet by director José Luis Acosta . This was followed by Vicente Aranda's historical drama Libertarias , for which García was nominated for the first time in 1997 for Goya in the Best Mask category. A second Goya nomination came in 2002 for Agustín Díaz Yanes ' Sin noticias de Dios . In 2005 he and Jo Allen were nominated for an Oscar in the category of best make-up and best hairstyles for Alejandro Amenábar's drama The Sea in Me ; however, the adventure film Lemony Snicket won that year . With his third Goya nomination, however, he was able to win the award for the first time for The Sea in Me . Two more Goya nominations followed by 2016, for Princesas and Palms in the Snow - A Limitless Love . In addition to Spanish film productions, García was also active internationally; he has worked under directors such as Woody Allen , John Malkovich , Jim Jarmusch and Miloš Forman , and on major Hollywood productions such as Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides .
